Evelyn Eekels resides near Sudbury, Ontario where the Canadian Shield reminds her of the Group of Seven on a daily basis.
While in school she studied Art (among other things) and worked with oil and acrylic paints. These days she prefers acrylic paints with their appealing electric colours and ooey-gooey plasticity. In fact, colour has always appealed to her, particularly primary colours with which the world can be made. Evelyn Eekels enjoys painting portraits for the fun of it, developing her skill, delving into the subtlety of expression, and thriving on the thrill of commemorating her friends and family. The unique, the strange and bizarre, the beautiful, the moody, there are so many things to paint. Next focus: painting Nature herself. Other artistic pursuits include drawing for MusicShakers (www.musicshakers.co.uk), a UK-based company specializing in music for young children as well as t-shirt design for TravellingTees (www.travellingtees.ca).
