Evelyn Eekels resides near Sudbury, Ontario where the Canadian Shield reminds her of the Group of Seven on a daily basis.
While in school she studied Art (among other things) and worked with oil and acrylic paints. These days she prefers acrylic paints with their appealing electric colours and ooey-gooey plasticity. And she's discovered the thrill of watercolour and its sedimentation effects. In fact, moving colour around has always appealed to her, particularly primary colours with which the world can be made. Lately, painting has been bigger than ever as she joins forces with the Monique Legault Studio Mural Team.
Evelyn Eekels enjoys painting portraits for the fun of it, developing her skill, delving into the subtlety of expression, and thriving on the thrill of commemorating her friends and family. The unique, the strange and bizarre, the beautiful, the moody, there are so many things to paint.
Other artistic pursuits include drawing for MusicShakers (www.musicshakers.co.uk), a UK-based company specializing in music for young children as well as image content creation for Syngli (https://syngli.com/), an e-learning program.
"Art enables us to lose ourselves and to find our selves at the same time."
